A Childhood Dream Turned Reality
About Us
We’ve had a lot of people ask us about the name TimBuckII—some think it’s unique, others aren’t sure what it means. But behind the name is a story rooted in family, adventure, and a dream that never faded.
When Earl was a kid, he’d often take drives with his dad. Like any curious child, he’d ask, “Where are we going? Where are we at?” And every time, his dad would reply with a smile, “We’re going to Timbuktu.” Because in most people’s minds, Timbuktu meant “way out there, in the middle of nowhere.”
That’s exactly what makes TimBuckII Retreat so special. It’s a place where you can escape the noise, slow down, and soak in the beauty of the world around you. But unlike the Timbuktu of legend, this retreat isn’t just an endless stretch of sand—it’s nestled in the heart of Oregon, close enough to explore the Painted Hills, scenic hiking trails, and river adventures.

Years later, when Earl’s youngest son, Shorty, was born, he would tell him stories about building a little town called Timbuktu. Shorty loved the idea and asked over and over again:
"Dad, when are we going to build Timbuktu? Can we build Timbuktu?"
For years, it was just a dream. Something talked about but never started.
Until finally, we made it happen.
We built TimBuckII Retreat, a place where that dream could come to life. A place where families, travelers, and adventurers could create their own memories, just like the ones that inspired it.
The cozy cabin, the eatery, the peaceful surroundings—they all exist because of a childhood dream that never faded.
So if you ever find yourself "way out there" with us, know that you’re stepping into a place built with love, stories, and a whole lot of heart.
Welcome to TimBuckII.
